New Building Plans

Elie Estates have proposed some extensive developments in this area - to build some 81 new houses (25 at Grange Road and 55 at Wadeslea) of which 24 will be “affordable homes” and available for rent.

Update - 10/11/2025

  • The land at Wadeslea is shortly to be sold to Cruden Homes who have been carefully selected after the success of their Longniddry South development.

  • The proposals will include 46 private houses, 10 retirement bungalows and 30 affordable homes.

  • Regarding the affordable homes, 10 homes will be offered for social rent through Kingdom Housing Association.

  • The remaining 20 affordable homes will be offered to the community by the Woodhaven Housing Company on mid-market rents or discounted sale with a rural housing burden attached to the title.

  • The 10 retirement bungalows will be designed with elderly needs in mind and restricted to the over 55 age demographic.

  • Scottish Water will be upgrading and increasing the capacity of the sewage network by removing surface water currently entering the network via road drains and instead discharging it through the SuDS system at the Wadeslea development.

  • Disappointingly there appears to be no demand from care home operators to build a new purpose-built care home at Wadeslea.

Cruden will be submitting a Reserved Matters application in the New Year and hope to start on site towards the end of 2026
