November 2025 - Save Elmwood Briefing Paper
This email has been sent to eight mid-Scotland and Fife MSPs:
Dear
We are writing to you as representatives of Save Elmwood, a campaign group of individuals and organisations in the local community around SRUC’s Elmwood Campus in Cupar.
We have prepared a briefing document (attached) that describes the history and importance of Elmwood and how in our opinion it has been systematically run down so that closure appears all but inevitable now. It also covers the wider issues of governance, accountability, finance and the strategic mission that we have discovered at SRUC.
We request an urgent meeting with you to explore how you might help our campaign.
We have found it extremely difficult to establish what precisely is planned for SRUC’s Elmwood Campus and, most importantly, the impact of the loss of this excellent educational facility on NE Fife and further afield.
The headlong rush by SRUC’s executive management team to become a university has led to a £10.8 million deficit, the erosion of provision of vital vocational skills and land-based training and serious inequality of educational opportunities for large numbers of school leavers and those returning to education in Fife and across Scotland.
We look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience – we are, of course, prepared to travel to your Holyrood office if that would be easier than meeting in Cupar/Fife.
Best wishes
Angela Anderson & Hilary Lumsden

April 2025 - E&ECC Participation Request to SRUC – Elmwood College Final Report
Submission of a Participation Request to the SRUC At Cupar in Fife in the East of Scotland, the SRUC had announced plans to close down and demolish the main building at Elmwood college. They had closed down the student accommodation the previous year. They also intended to seriously scale back on the courses they offered. Horticulture was to be saved but the Golf Course where greenkeeping and golf course management courses took place was put up for sale. The SRUC also intended to cut support services at Elmwood College.
